SHELTER is an independent eyewear brand from France built on the belief that design, craftsmanship, and sustainability should go hand in hand. Founded in Annecy in 2013 by a group of creators and craftsmen, the brand set out with an ambitious goal: to reinvent eyewear using natural materials and responsible production methods.
At the heart of SHELTER’s identity lies wood. By combining noble wood veneers with bio-acetate and metal, the brand creates frames that balance natural beauty with contemporary design. Each frame is carefully crafted through a process that blends modern engineering with traditional craftsmanship.
SHELTER collaborates closely with French artisans and material specialists, drawing on expertise from the Jura and Oyonnax regions—historic centers of eyewear manufacturing. The result is a product that reflects both technological innovation and the precision of handmade production.
Through patented techniques such as multilayer wood construction, SHELTER achieves remarkably thin, lightweight, and durable frames while preserving the material's natural character.
